PYEONGCHANG, South Korea — The People’s Democratic Republic of Korea won the gold medal in both the men’s and women’s categories in diplomatic dance today, marking North Korea’s first gold medal in the history of the Olympics.
CNN reporter Jake Tapper cheered on wildly as North Korea’s gold medalists took the stage, while a stunning Kim Yo Jang, dressed in exquisite golden retriever furs, held her head high. Diplomatic dance, previously known as the sport of deception, is a fierce competition, one that many had predicted would be won by Canada or Iran.
After the moving ceremony, the Supreme Sister bestowed upon Tapper the prestigious Hero of Communism Award, North Korea’s highest civilian honor. The esteemed journalist broke down in tears, visibly awestruck by the gesture.
