Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.”—?Benjamin Franklin
While the left continues to argue that their criticisms are solely pertinent to “assault weapons” and other firearm modifications like bump stocks and large magazines, these points of attack are currently being used to target the accessibility of firearms, in general, throughout America.
While Conservatives have been obnoxiously dismissed as being paranoid for making a predictive hypothesis of such a prohibition being pressured into legislature, that very prediction has proven true as Congress has presented bill H.R.5087, otherwise known as the “Assault Weapons Ban of 2018.”
The bill ironically claims to “regulate the importation, manufacture, possession, sale or transfer of assault weapons, and for other purposes.” The “other purposes” excerpt of the bill certainly calls for a circumspect suspicion, given that the title of the bill itself calls for the prohibition of certain types of firearms. While the bill claims to target “assault weapons,” it erroneously emphasizes the prohibition of semi-automatic rifles, namely the AR-15. Contrary to a hilarious misconception, the AR-15, meaning “Arma-Lite-15”(not assault rifle) representing the company behind its creation, would, in fact, not be classified as an assault rifle. Despite the fact that the term “assault rifle” is defined as “a rapid-fire, magazine-fed automatic rifle designed for infantry use,” the term is inaccurately being applied to semi-automatic weapons as well- and even handguns.
The bill prohibits not only semi-automatic rifles, but even targets other accessories like pistol grips, folding stocks, and threaded barrels. It cites all accessories under the following:
“A semiautomatic rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:
- (i) A pistol grip.
- (ii) A forward grip.
- (iii) A folding, telescoping, or detachable stock.
- (iv) A grenade launcher or rocket launcher. (Seriously)
- (v) A barrel shroud.
- (vi) A threaded barrel.
Any part, combination of parts, component, device, attachment, or accessory that is designed or functions to accelerate the rate of fire of a semiautomatic rifle but not convert the semiautomatic rifle into a machinegun…”
The bill openly admits that its prohibition of firearms specifically targets firearms that do NOT operate at the capacity or fire rate of a machine gun. To reiterate, they are explicitly condemning the ownership, manufacturing, distribution, transaction and transportation of firearms NOT classified as assault rifles, and are likewise prohibiting accessories, some of which are only applicable to pistols. This dangerously totalitarian, tyrannical legislation explicitly targets pistols, shotguns, semi-automatic weapons, and other firearms that do not fall under the category of assault rifles.
This authoritarian bill is designed to systematically disarm the American people, and thus cultivate a vulnerable population, that is entirely susceptible to overbearing governmental rule. This legislation directly violates the guaranteed Constitutional liberties laid forth by our founding fathers, and is the epitome of tyranny. It is up to the American people, guaranteed security and the preservation of their personal liberty and autonomy, to oppose this gross negligence of power and tyranny.
It shall be unlawful for a person to import, sell, manufacture, transfer, or POSSESS, in or affecting interstate or foreign commerce, a semiautomatic assault weapon.
This malicious, incredibly deceptive statement is an explicit betrayal of the American people. We abide by the Constitution, and it is written in the permanent patriotism of our founding fathers, and thereby reinforced by the blood they shed for the preservation of our liberties:
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state; the right of the people to keep and bear arms; shall not be infringed.
Under no circumstances may the right of the people be forfeited, in the name of false, manipulative guarantees of governmental security.
It is the responsibility of every American, in unwavering patriotism, to take advantage of these unprecedented Constitutional liberties to defend, protect and preserve our intrinsic rights, as guaranteed to us within the decrees of our founding fathers. To protect ourselves, our children, and our fellow Americans from all foes, both foreign and domestic, and against all formidable threats of government tyranny, is not simply the right of the few-it is the duty of all.
