Singer and avid Trump supporter, Joy Villa, claims former Trump Campaign Manager, Corey Lewandowski, sexually assaulted her at a party. We were unable to reach Lewandowski’s office for a response, but Joy Villa has publicly called him out for touching her inappropriately in a recent article published by Politico. Villa claims Lewandowski “slapped her ass,” during a party on the evening of December 22. Villa had previously stated that she had never met him and when they saw each other for the first time, he seemingly dismissed her when she asked him to join her for a photo. Villa was celebrating the President’s first year in office at a holiday party at the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C. when Lewandowski slapped her behind. After she objected, he dismissed her concerns and slapped her behind again, Villa said in an interview Friday.
Villa said that they were going to take a photo together and Lewandowski slapped her rear. She warned him “half-jokingly” that she could report him for sexual harassment and he allegedly slapped her behind again and told her to go ahead with the claim, remarking that he was untouchable because he worked in the private sector. “I’m wearing this silver suit and stretchy pants, and after the photo, he smacks my ass really hard,” Villa said. “It was completely demeaning and shocking.”
Villa does have a friend who witnessed the exchange and backed up her accounts. This friend has chosen to remain anonymous to avoid a political backlash. However, several other witnesses present at the event have publicly stated they saw no such incident occur. Twitter users were quick to take Villa’s side and vilify Lewandowski, as seen by this tweet from Tariq Nasheed:
Villa’s checkered past as a Bernie-turned-Trump supporter and her extensive involvement with the Church of Scientology while claiming to be a Christian haven’t bolstered her credibility in the eyes of many Trump supporters. Villa has a well-documented history of making public sexual misconduct allegations, as evidenced by her tweets recounting such incidents at a plethora of venues, including a 24 Hour Fitness and Heathrow Airport. Adding to the intrigue is the revelation that Villa’s Twitter account is followed by thousands of fake accounts, according to an audit by Twitter Audit. The service has since stopped accepting requests for audits of Villa’s account, after a rash of citizen journalists began using the platform to see if she has been purchasing fake followers to artificially inflate her status on Twitter.
